Production Description
Main material: The main filter material of the softening filtration equipment is resin, especially cation exchange resin. This kind of resin has a high selective adsorption ability, which can adsorb calcium, magnesium and other hardness ions in the water.
Ion exchange process:
When hardness water (water rich in calcium and magnesium ions) passes through the softening and filtration equipment, the sodium ions in the resin will be exchanged with the calcium and magnesium ions in the water.
The result of the exchange is that the resin adsorbs the calcium and magnesium ions, while the calcium and magnesium ions in the water are replaced by sodium ions, thus reducing the hardness of the water.
This process can be expressed by the chemical equation: 2RNa + Ca2+ → R2Ca + 2Na+ (where R represents the active group on the resin).
Resin regeneration:
Over time, the sodium ions on the resin are gradually replaced by calcium and magnesium ions, resulting in a decrease in the softening capacity of the resin.
In order to restore the softening capacity of the resin, resin regeneration is required. This is usually accomplished by passing a high concentration of brine (regeneration solution) through the resin bed to wash away adsorbed calcium and magnesium ions and restore the resin's exchange capacity.
The regeneration process may take some time, depending on the type of resin, the size of the equipment, and the concentration and flow rate of the regeneration solution.
Workflow:
The workflow of softening and filtration equipment usually includes the steps of working (water production), backwashing, salt absorption (regeneration), slow washing (replacement) and fast washing.
In the working stage, the equipment produces water normally; in the backwashing stage, the resin bed is flushed by reversing the water flow to remove the retained impurities; in the salt suction stage, brine is injected into the resin bed for regeneration; in the slow washing stage, the resin bed is flushed slowly with raw water to promote the regeneration of the resin; and in the rapid washing stage, the resin bed is flushed quickly with raw water to remove the residual salts and impurities.
