Principles of operation
Electrodeionization (EDI) system is mainly under the action of DC electric field, through the partition of the water dielectric ions in the water to occur directional movement, the use of exchange membranes on the selection of ions through the role of water quality to purify a scientific water treatment technology.
Electrodialyzer between a pair of electrodes, usually by the anionic membrane, cationic membrane and partition (a, b) many groups of alternating arrangements, constituting a thick room and a light room (that is, cations can be through the cationic membrane, anions can be through the anionic membrane). The cations in the water in the fresh chamber migrate to the negative pole through the cation membrane and are retained by the anion membrane in the concentrated chamber; the anions in the water migrate to the positive pole through the anion membrane and are retained by the cation membrane in the concentrated chamber, so that the number of ions in the water in the fresh chamber gradually decreases and it becomes freshwater, while the water in the concentrated chamber becomes concentrated water due to the continuous influx of anions and cations into the concentrated chamber, and the concentration of dielectric ions rises constantly and it becomes concentrated water, so that it can achieve the purposes of desalination, purification, concentration or refinement.
